Pro Work (The Netherlands)

The experience of PRO WORK has enabled the development of a broad range of methods, instruments and techniques, both on operational and political levels.Foundation Knowledge Centre PRO WORK promotes the career development of people with a (significant) distance to the labor market, skilled workers and others who need coaching, training and counseling in a wide variety of sectors and topics, national and international. PRO WORK operates in sectors like ICT, sustainability, environment, economy, health care and technology associated with sheltered employment, entrepreneurship, talent development of youngsters, unemployment and generation gaps.

The main aims of PRO WORK, are more specifically:

  • To promote career development for those who require VET (Vocational Educational Training), coaching and guidance;
  •  To enable vulnerable groups to access the labour market;
  • To develop and implement innovation in the field of vocational education and training.

PRO WORK as a 'centre of excellence' is a public body and has an independent entity. PRO WORK was founded in the Netherlands as a result of a number of national and international projects. The experience of PRO WORK has enabled the development of a broad range of methods, instruments and techniques, both on operational and political levels.

 The foundation often collaborates with a consortium of organisations, regional training centres, commercial institutes, government (local, regional, national, European), different target groups, sector representatives and knowledge centres. PRO WORK is involved in the development and implementation of innovations in the educational field. Furthermore PRO WORK offers a broad professional approach, that realises structural innovation in a demand driven way.

The projects that PRO WORK participates in vary from national to international level and differ in large number of participating parties, types of partners, structure, collaboration, subject and purpose. Ultimately, all projects focus on the so-called 'Corporate Social Responsibility', because they have in common, that they improve the quality of liveability in many areas. From f.e. reducing the distance to the labour market, to improving sustainability and reducing the generation gap.

The projects of PRO WORK can be divided into three different subcategories:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Social Responsiblity
  • Sustainability/Technique.

In addition to the (international) projects that PRO WORK is involved in, there is a wide array of other activities, which the foundation carries out within the educational sector and/or within European subsidised programmes. For example organizing international mobilities, develop teaching materials including databases and consultancy and advice. These activities vary greatly in subject, but they all have in common that they are active within the educational sector in the Netherlands and Europe, where innovation, mobility, collaboration and quality are keywords.
